your heart can only be happy as you move to the polka spirit! In Nashville,
they've been the Gerst Haus band for over 10yrs and appeared at many other
festivals, events and Ethnic Restaurants through the years. |

In an Educational
setting, Karen does an excellent job of presenting the ethnic history,
styles and flavors of the true German folk music with this group. Folk
Songs, Dances, and Yodelling lessons will be a great experience for any age

Karen Yatuzis - Leader, Accordion,
Keyboards and Vocals
Her Austrian family and heritage
surrounded her with the music, language and culture of the Alps. She has a
Bachelors of Music from Ithaca Conservatory of Music, a Masters of Music
from Middle Tennessee University. She flew the friendly skies as an
international flight stewardess. Currently she teaches 3rd Grade in Smyrna,
TN. She has appeared as a violist under the batons of Arthur Fiedler, Igor
Stravinsky, Leonard and Elmer Bernstein. She has sung in Carnegie Hall with
the Ithaca College Chorale. As an accordianist, she's appeared with the
Nashville Symphony in addition to countless festivals internationally. |

Johannes van Dijk - Chromatic
Accordion, Vocals
Self trained, this gentleman is
has one of the best set of musical ears in the business. Born on the border
of Holland & Germany this bilingual fellow lived thru WWII and the
occupation of Holland. Music was a refuge for him. He emigrated to the US in
the 50's. A Carpenter by trade he worked in the Ford Glass Plant. Hans has
played with many polka bands in the Tennessee area and both his chromatic
accordian and winking knees are well know by many! |

Sonny Lonas - Drums
Starting his career way back when
in Winchester, Va, Sonny has worked with Patsy Cline, Ernest Tubb, Jimmy
Dean and other major artists from across the country and through the years.
Sonny has been playing with Karen and the Musik Meisters for almost 4 years.
Sonny retired from the city of Brentwood Police Department in
Communications. |

G.R. Davis - Helicon/Tuba
A computer programmer by day,
teacher by evening, musician at night, and Musik Meister Oom Pah come
Oktober, G.R. is an Alabama boy made good. This adjunct professor of Tuba at
Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music has award winning tuba students all over
the country. Also a fine string and electric bass player, you'll find G.R.
in many bands playing anything from bluegrass to Beethoven. |

Brad Stauffer - Trumpet
Brad has played with many polka
bands, including "the Happy Wanderers", "the Imports", and "Fritz's German
Band" over the last 10 years from Toledo, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois and
Nashville. He has an extensive history as an artist, educator and performer.
Brad was invited to join the Musik Meisters back in 1996 and is happy to
have the chance to play with such an authentic group - clear down to the
Lederhosen!!!! |
